Profile of Claire Sanderson Hanna

Claire Sanderson Hanna is a family law specialist licensed to practice law in New Mexico since 1992. Since real estate is typically an important part of a divorcing family's asset portfolio, Claire Sanderson Hanna expanded her knowledge base in real estate in 2005 to become a licensed real estate broker as well as a family-law specialist attorney.

Prior to her career in domestic relations, collaborative law, family law and divorce mediation, Claire Sanderson Hanna was a publisher and editor in New York City and Albuquerque publishing houses. Claire Sanderson Hanna obtained her law degree from the University of New Mexico in 1992 and served as a judicial law clerk for the Court of Appeals for two years after graduating from law school. She obtained her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1978, graduated in the top one percent of her class, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Originally from rural upstate New York, Claire Sanderson Hanna has resided in New Mexico for over twenty-five years.

Upon completion of the judicial clerkship, Ms. Hanna spent five years with a large Albuquerque domestic relations law firm. Her exposure to high profile cases and complex litigation throughout the state honed her skills and provided a broad range of experiences. Given her independent nature, Ms. Hanna founded her own law firm, CLAIRE SANDERSON HANNA LAW FIRM, P.C., in 1999 and began to focus her family law practice on collaborative law and mediation, particularly collaborative divorce and mediated divorce.

Having personally experienced a divorce, Ms. Hanna understands the emotional and financial stresses of a difficult family law matter. She assists clients as they go through this difficult time, while encouraging them to plan and prepare for a positive future.
